NFL Rumors
OK, folks, here’s the page with all the scoops. Check out these rumors we’ve been hearing today:
Haynesworth Titan Talks Still Stalled.
The contract negotiation stalemate between the Tennessee Titans and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth continue to stew with no end in sight. In a bid to defeat his inactivity, Haynesworth has now hired a personal trainer and is spending his time getting in even more menacing shape than he was previously. Haynesworth is apparently training in isolation, away from the rest of the Titans, who contunue to use their traditional offseason training facility, sparking speculation that he is acclimating himself to the idea of getting away. If you want to buy Titans tickets and see Haynesworth next year, maybe you’re mistaken. Perhaps you should buy Steelers tickets instead? Haynesworth’s agent insists the player is open to talks with the team, and says that the NFL draft has ended, which puts everyone in a clearer mind. We’ll see.
Nix Nixes Talk of Retirement and Chargers do Major Reshuffle
The Chargers finished their draft picks this weekend, and Assistant General Manager Buddy Nix promptly informed General Manager A.J. Smith that he was going to retire.
The 68 year old Nix has enjoyed 15 seasons in the NFL and coached for college for over double that time, and he cited the aggravations of ttavel among the chief reasons for his decision. Nix gave his life to the NFL, and deserves a hero’s send-off, we at NFL Rumors, believe. Question is, how will this affect sales of Chargers tickets?
But last night rumor had it that Nix might actually be looking for another job! Some say Nix was forced out of his position at San Diego, and is indeed on the hunt for another NFL pelt to add to his collection.
Thus far Nix has been unavailable for comment.
Nix flew home to Tennessee after the NFL draft with powerful NFL agent and close friend Jimmy Sexton, setting off a flurry of rumors about Nix’s actual intentions. In his wake, a reshuffle within the higher echelons of the Chargers’ structure seems to be taking place.
Shockey Shocker Leaves Saints Empty-Handed
Super Bowl Champs the New York Giants, happy with drafted safety Kenny Phillips from Miami, were anxious to avoid questions about the guy they’re all talking about; tight end Jeremy Shockey. At a time when Giants tickets are selling like wildfire, all the Giants needed was a dampener like this.
Giants’ general manager John Reese did not wish to discuss the Shockey situation; the Saints caused an NFL sensation when they made an offer for Shockey, but the Giants just wanted their day in the Super Bowl sun, and who could blame them? People insisted on knowing if Shockey would be traded, though, and the situation has tensed since.
Shockey’s pragmatism and foresight have shook up the Giants but the Saints rumors eclipsed all other pre-draft gossip. The Saints failed in their bid for Shockey, but the tongues are still wagging, and others, like the Cowboys, are busily snatching up anything that moves. The Saints better get going, or they’ll be left clutching at air. Saints tickets will be increasingly interesting to track this coming NFL schedule, so stay tuned to NFL Rumors!
